Creating a more sustainable and collaborative performing arts ecosystem ONE person at a time.
what are some of the challenges facing the performing arts?
At Partnership Arts Consulting (PAC), we believe communication, understanding, and an effective and easy to understand case for support are the keys to unlocking more sustainable business practices that better support artistic innovation and creation.
We also believe the education of artists and boards could be profoundly transformative for the entire industry.
We have the tools and professional experience from multiple vantage points to help organizations, professional artists and students bridge the gaps between creating art and running a business.
We are seeking solutions for small to mid-size organizations AND EMERGING ARTISTS
If you are part of the arts ecosystem, have you ever noticed a situation where progress was halted by a lack of effective communication between company stakeholders, staff, and artists?
As artist administrators, we’ve noticed that our sector lacks formal education opportunities detailing the necessary business basics required to make art in the United States. Performing artists graduate with music or performance degrees, but rarely have a single class explaining the structure and function of a non-profit organization.
Likewise, Boards of smaller non-profits are made up of professionals and philanthropists who often have little to no exposure to or education about what it takes to keep an arts non-profit solvent, what is required of the arts non-profit staff, or what challenges working artists face.
This lack of education, communication and understanding between the three pillars of any performing arts organization; the board, the staff, and the artists, can lead to untenable, unsustainable business practices for an organization and unrealistic expectations from the artists they employ.
